Yoga with Phil
Phil has taught yoga since 2000 in California and New York and has established himself as an advanced practitioner and seasoned teacher. With his years of applying both vinyasa and proper body alignment to his own practice, he is able to teach a wide array of student levels and variable techniques to best fit his students and their needs. His experience with students in their 80 and 90's has been a huge benefit to all his clients.
TRE (Trauma/Tension Release Exercises) created by Dr. David Berceli, is a series of 7 exercises that are specifically designed to evoke the body’s natural shaking mechanism, releasing deeply held tension. This simple and profound techinque facilitates the lenghtening and relaxing of the psoas muscle. This relaxation provides a very effective release of physical and emotional tension. The psoas muscle it a very thick, deep muscle that acts as a guardian to the lower belly. The daily stresses of minor and major traumatic experiences cause it to tighten and shortens from holding tension. TRE exercises work the legs which helps evoke the trembling response. This gentle shaking is the nervous system's way to discharge the stress and muscle contraction in order to restore the body to wholeness.
